» Divine Family: {mother & father} The Goddess Dana; {spouse}None; {siblings} Titania (possibly); {children} Oberon
» Mythology: I chose the myths that depict Mab as a Fae only, and those that do not pair her as another name for Titania, as they are seen commonly has ruling two different kingdoms.
Once, Mab was the supreme ruler of all Fae. She ruled wisely and kept a balance between the realm of the Fae and that of the Mortals. Eventually, her son, Oberon, over took the throne. She accepted this at first, as she knew eventually her son would succeed her. However, Oberon allowed the Fae to be forgotten to Mortals. The humans began to believe the Fae as mere fiction and no longer adhered to the Old Ways. Furious with her son’s neglect, she demanded he change his ways or return the throne. Oberon refused and banished Mab from his court, now named the Seelie Court.
Mab took to the harsher realm of the land of the Fae and built her own kingdom, The Unseelie Court. Here she ruled over all fae creatures, that did not obey Oberon's rule of staying away from the mortal world. Filling with resentment and anger toward her son, she became a cold and harsh ruler, known often as the Queen of Air and Darkness and the Winter Queen. Indeed, those were her magical realms of strength. The Unseelie Fae grow in power as the seasons turn cold, gaining their apex during the Winter Solstice.

» Ability: She can manipulate the climate around her by turning it into winter like conditions. She can freeze objects if she touches them directly, and can cause snow to occur, even indoors. Her power can also be triggered without her consent if she becomes angry or displeased. Her mood will be reflected in the temperature around her.
» History:
This is Mab's first incarnation.
Maeve was born to a wealthy businessman and his lovely wife. She had every luxury the only child of a billionaire owner of a Fortune 500 company could possibly desire. Therefore she grew up spoiled and careless of the world around her.
When she became a teenager, she and her rich friends would often be in the newspapers in unflattering ways. Underage drinking, vandalism and even shoplifting where among her offenses. Her father’s money kept her out of any real long term punishments, but it concerned her family. Her mother even sent her to a finishing school. She was promptly and politely kicked out after 2 weeks.
It was when she seemed absolutely hopeless, that the memories resurfaced. Her personality began to change, much to her parents’ initial delight. She withdrew from her former friends, and the destructive behavior ceased, and her grades improved. Her face no longer showed up in the tabloids. But her connection to her family did not strengthen. Mab looked down upon the fact that she had been born to mortal parents, no matter that one of them was first generation Irish. She secretly nurtured her growing powers until she had them mastered. As she aged a little more though what she was inside grew more apparent, as whenever she grew displeased about anything, her powers would leak out to the world around her.
Currently, she is working on a degree so she might take over her father’s business.
» Personality: Before her memories began to manifest, Maeve was the typical happy go lucky spoiled young rich girl. She enjoyed shopping, fashion, and spending time with her friends, on and off the phone, and getting into no small amount of trouble. But since the surfacing of her past self, her personality has drastically changed. She has become very sober and withdrawn. Her sense of humor has taken a dryer, darker turn. She has become a more blunt and harsh judge of people, even those she is close to. Sometimes she even shocks herself with the cold thoughts that enter her mind. Though this shock is more of a distant observation than a true regret or worry for herself.
However it is possible to find her in a light spirit, depending on when you speak to her. The Unseelie Court derives it’s powers from darkness and winter seasons. So during the early morning hours, she is more likely to be lighter of mood and heart. In the summer, the level of this light mood can actually last longer. As the sunsets, she becomes more of her Fae self however, and during the cold winter months even in early morning she can still be harsh.
Since realizing her true self, she is serious and thoughtful. Her ability for critical thinking is more apparent. She is far less flippant and frivolous. She is more careful with her words, but is also quicker to anger. She cares less for the opinion of others, unless she specifically asks for it. She is not above helping others but it is usually to benefit herself, or she asks some sort of price. Rarely, does she do any favors for free.
» Other Notes: Maeve can be very cool to the touch. She also speaks both English and Gaelic fluently. She is currently working on a degree in business management. She also avoids touching anything made out of steel or iron. She has not developed a Fairy’s allergy to iron yet, but her instincts remain aware that the material is deadly to Fae.
Mab, though she can appreciate beauty in a woman, is very much straight.
» Sample Journal:
I found an old tabloid news paper today. I look so very young in the photo. Very young and foolish. It is surprising how a little knowledge can change so many things. Now you can see the same name, the same face, in the business section of the Chicago Tribune. In one picture, the subject is ignorant of the truth, in the other, she is enlightened.
Those who say ignorance is bliss are fools.
» Sample Log:
“When are you coming home?” The question was posed with both hopefulness and wariness of the reply. In truth, Maeve had known the question would be asked, but the reasoning behind it eluded her.
“I do not know, Siobhan. My plate is rather full still.” Her mortal mother was smart. One had to give her credit. She knew to call Mab in the mornings when she might be in the most malleable mood. However, she had simply not come to terms with the fact that her ‘daughter’ simply had no interest in being a part of the family. Perhaps if they had done something to illicit a bond while she had been growing up, things could have been different. But the ‘mother’ and ‘father’ had failed. They had thought throwing money at every situation would make her happy, make her love them. The idea was beyond foolish.
“You didn’t come for your birthday, or Christmas, or even New Year’s. I just- I just want to catch up with you, make sure you’re doing okay.” There was a hint of wateriness in her ‘mother’s’ voice. It did little to melt Meave’s heart.
“I am perfectly fine. You should know this.”
“But-”
“Siobhan, enough. I am not coming home any time soon. I will contact you if I decide to do so. Now I have work to do. We will speak again another time.” She hung up the phone curtly. She honestly didn’t know why the woman kept at it. Mab didn’t know why she even allowed herself to get sucked into the conversations with her mortal mother. Perhaps she felt pity for the woman? She couldn’t truly tell.
